Updated Local Rule in effect from Friday 1st August

In order to further protect the closely mown areas surrounding our greens, from Friday 1st August 2025, the current local rule that is applicable only to the 12th green when playing the 10th hole will be replaced by the following local rule to cover all wrong greens.

With the exception of temporary/winter greens, wrong greens are treated as including the area of fairway within one club-length from the edge of the putting green. When a player has interference from a wrong green under Rule 13.1f, including this expanded area, the player must take free relief.

Please be aware that:

• interference occurs whenever a wrong green, including the expanded area, interferes with the player's ball, intended stance or intended swing.
• the practice greens are wrong greens, and covered by this Local Rule.
• temporary greens are wrong greens, from which relief must be taken, but there is no expanded area.
• relief must be taken; there is no option to play the ball as it lies.
• the reference point for relief is the nearest point of complete relief from the wrong green and expanded area.
• when taking relief, the ball must be dropped and come to rest within the relief area, which measures one club-length from the reference point, is not nearer to the hole, and affords complete relief from the wrong green and expanded area.

The penalty for playing a ball from a wrong place in breach of a Local Rule is the General Penalty (two penalty strokes in stroke play; loss of hole in match play).
